A small to medium bolete with a dry, yellow-brown to chestnut cap that often cracks into fine patches, bright yellow pores that may show faint bluing, and a slender, unornamented stipe.

Cap: Dry, matt, finely tomentose, usually yellow‑brown to chestnut‑brown. Often becomes finely areolate, with small cracks exposing paler flesh beneath. Margin even; surface never viscid.
Pores: Bright yellow, becoming more olive with age. Pores small, round; bruising reaction weak, sometimes showing faint, patchy bluing. Tubes yellow, not strongly bruising.
Stipe: Slender, yellowish to brownish, sometimes with slight reddish tones near the apex. Surface smooth to finely fibrillose; no reticulation.
Flesh: Soft, pale yellow, occasionally showing slight bluing in the cap but usually minimal in the stipe. Odour and taste mild.
