Stipe: Very robust, 30-60 x 12-22 mm, with a prominent marginate bulb (<40 mm diam.). Colour pale blue‑grey, becoming whitish toward the bulb.
Veil: Pale grey to white (sometimes faintly violaceous), sparse; cortina white, fugacious.
Context: White, blue‑grey around the stipe cortex and in the pileus, marbled blue‑grey; firm and compact.
Odour/taste: Indistinct.
