A coarsely squarrose-scaled, brown to fuscous Inosperma often showing greenish-olive tints, with reddening context, black-green stipe base, and smooth ovoid-subreniform spores. Distinguished by its fruity odour, absence of pleurocystidia, and trichodermal pileipellis.

Pileus: Up to 35 mm diam. Convex to umbonate-expanded to campanulate. Pale brown, brown, fuscous, often with greenish or olive tinge. Dry, densely covered with coarse squarrose scales and squamules over entire surface. Margin estriate, no veil remnants.
Lamellae: Adnexed to adnate, ventricose, crowded. Pale beige-ochraceous or beige-yellow to argillaceous or brown. Reddening when bruised. Edge albo-fimbriate.
Stipe: Up to 65 x 5 mm, cylindrical, equal. Concolorous with pileus or paler. Black-green at base. Covered with concolorous scales and squamules. Dry, becoming hollow. Occurs single or cespitose.
Context: Brown, reddening after exposure. Base black-green.
